Dry function on my A/C?

Really stupid question, im sure theres a simple answer. I have a gold star A/C that was purchased at wal-mart. It has a "DRY" mode on it, it seems to be just as cold as the "cool" function and was wondering what the difference is, what is this function for, the owners manual does not cover the specific functions, it only lists them and i am rather curious what this mode is used for

Dehumidifier, your fan probably runs slower in this mode but will still get cold.
