Finding c from probability density function?

Finding c from probability density function?

probability density function f(x) = cx^2, for x = 0 to 3.

what is c?

Finding c from probability density function?
I believe that if the prob. of the event happening from 0 to 3 is one then c times the integral of x^2 from 0 to 3 needs to equal one.

So,,,, the integral of x^2 from 0 to 3 is 9. Then c must be 1/9.

Its been a while but thats how I would do it.
Reply:for f to be a pdf it must integrate to 1 over the region

3

∫ f(x) dx =1

0

c/3 * (3 ^3 - 0 ^ 3) = 1

c = 1/9
